This delicious twist on a traditional oatcake combines the spicy, slightly salty flavour of dulse sea vegetable with warming hints of black pepper and garlic. An unusual flavour combination, but very tasty. We love these authentic Scottish oatcakes!

Strange Taste

I tried these before adding olives and cheese and the first thing that struck me, was the odd taste. They tasted slightly fishy which was a bit off-putting. Once disguised with other things, they were OK and the usual texture of oatcakes. I wonder if the ‘sea vegetable’ element caused the strange taste? I’ll use them up but I wont have them again.

Properly oaty

The oatcakes are nice and crumbly with an oaty toasty flavour and a mild kick from the black pepper.
